Description
A foggy morning along the Oxbow Bend on the Snake River in the Grand Teton National Park reveals brilliant Autumn hues of Aspen trees. The Park is known for the beautiful Autumn colors and many of its visitors plan their visits around the peak time of fall which is in the month of September. Last year the Park had 4.6 million visitors which set an all time record.
The Park was established in 1929 as a National Park and is one of my favorite Parks to visit. There is an abundance of things to see here and many hikes can take you to areas, where even during busy times, you will find few people on the trails with you. Fly fishing in this region is superb and there are many outfitters who can take you down the Snake on a float trip to catch a few of the rainbow, brown or cutthroat trout. Everyone that we observed one morning floating past us in September, had either just landed one, or had one on the hook, it seems to me this might be a great month for fishing. Also, with so many outdoor activities, time may seem to run away from you, but don't let it until you have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Jackson, Wyoming and toured the many shops and art galleries in town.
I know that any season is beautiful here, but I think Autumn may be my favorite, but a winter trip here is my next vacation plan to this beautiful area and I am sure, as always, it will not disappoint!
